<dc:description>Global climate change and rapid urbanization have intensified the urban heat island effect, posing severe risks to health and urban livability. Existing studies overlook three aspects: spatial–functional heterogeneity, social benefits of urban cooling infrastructure and coupled mechanisms linking environment, perception, and social outcomes. This study addresses these gaps by evaluating microclimate parameters, physiological equivalent temperature, subjective thermal comfort, and social benefits across functional spaces in two cases in Chongqing, Mixc Chongqing and Longtang lake park. Field monitoring and questionnaire surveys were combined with statistical analysis, entropy–hierarchical weighting, and structural equation modeling (SEM). Results show significant spatiotemporal heterogeneity, with shaded and semi-open spaces performing better than exposed zones. SEM reveals a partial mediation model in Mixc Chongqing and a full mediation model in Longtang lake park, underscoring contextual contingency. The study contributes a dual-dimensional evaluation framework and context-specific UCI strategies for climate-adaptive urban design.</dc:description>
