By incorporating epichlorohydrin (ECH) into CDNPs, the study demonstrates a significant enhancement in binding constants. Utilizing Diffusion-Ordered Spectroscopy Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (DOSY NMR), the mechanisms underlying this enhanced binding affinity are analyzed. The research reveals a 100-fold increase in the binding constant between CDs and alpha-mangostin, and a substantial improvement in the interaction with vanillin. Additionally, a 2:1 βCD-paroxetine inclusion complex is identified, highlighting potential drug delivery benefits, especially for hydrophobic drugs. The findings suggest that ECH-induced hydrophobicity plays a key role in these interactions. The study also investigates the biocompatibility and safety of CDNPs, offering insights into reducing nephrotoxicity associated with CDs.
