Residences in this region are mainly outside-insulated and perform poorly under the intermittent cooling/heating modes in individual rooms. Interior insulation is proposed to be a more suitable way under such usage patterns. Bedrooms of a high-rise residential unit in Chengdu, a typical city in the HSCW region, were retrofitted with interior insulation. Comparative field experiments were performed during the cooling and heating seasons, and the main conclusion can be summarized as follows. Firstly, the retrofitted south bedroom had a good energy-saving effect both in summer and winter. Secondly, the indoor temperature was better controlled in the retrofitted south bedroom, closer to the setpoint. And temperature difference was smaller both horizontally and vertically. Thirdly, the retrofitted south bedroom outperformed the north one in terms of both energy-saving rate and indoor thermal environment.}, school = {北九州市立大学}, title = {Empirical Study on Energy Saving and Thermal Environment Improvement of Existing Residential Buildings After Interior Insulation Retrofit in Chengdu, China}, year = {} }
