| 内容記述 | Despite developing regional cooperation, East Asia is still suffering from several territorial disputes, most of which involve China. So how does China intend to commit to regional cooperation? Sometimes domestic concerns make China too cautious to further the liberalization of trade, but since the 1990s, the Communist government has put much value on multilateralism and regional cooperation. In this context, China is accelerating efforts to complete free trade agreements with Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to avoid isolation and increase its political and economic influence in the region. In the same context, China's next challenge is removal of financial control toward currency internationalization. Meanwhile, the cross-strait relationship with Taiwan and the Sino-Japanese relationship will continue to challenge China. To conclude, China will act positively toward furthering East Asian regional cooperation, yet using bilateralism to resolve territorial disputes will slow down the decision-making process for regional cooperation. | |||||
